Commonplace book, [ca. 1816-1820].

Autograph manuscript collection of original and translated verses on various topics, by Augustine Earle Lloyd Bulwer, later rector of St. Agnes church in Cawston. Contents include: Epitaph of Adonis; Musaeus' Hero and Leander; Apollonius Rhodius' Argonautics; Hymn to Diana; poems on Jerusalem, Spain, Waterloo, and Algiers; other classical and historical verse, some of Bulwer's own composition or imitation, and some of his own verse English translation or paraphrase; Greek and Latin epigrams and excerpts; a few autobiographical, romantic, elegaic, religious, occasional, fairy, and nature poems. Entries dated 1812-1820.
